Metric Time

How To Use Metric Time

To use metric time, you must understand a few things first. Each unit of time is called a chron (from the Greek chronos meaning time) and is abbreviated a c. In each day there are 10 hectochron. Like the metric system, metric time uses prefixes to denote place which means there is one Kilochron in a day. 1 chron is approximately 86 seconds or a little over a minute. If you look at the clock in the top right of your screen, take a time like 455c. This stands for 455 chron or 4 hectochron, 5 decachron and 5 chron. For a rough idea of what each unit is worth, refer to the table below. Also, if you need an easy converter, refer to our metric time converter. In the top right of your screen you will see an analog clock that shows the current metric time. The longer the clock hand the longer the time unit. On this clock, the longest unit is one hectochron, the medium hand is one decachron, and the smallest is chron.
